Commissioned tshirt quilt all but finished!!!!

Cant wait to post it away.

So what did I learn in making a tshirt quilt?  Well you CAN use tshirts really easily if you frame them with 100% cotton fabric.  Quilting them was made easier by having them joined in columns.  No quilting is required after the columns are joined... just as well... this quilt easily covers a queen size bed.  Sewing oversized frame borders and then bringing them through to the back when joining.... made it all so easy.  Hours heming the binding but that's ok.

I didnt make any money on this quilt but I have learned heaps and I really love the way the tshirt logos stand out.  I hope the customer loves it too.

One leaf of an entire screen made, perfect, beautiful!!!!

Just located a wood mill that will sell me pine dowel at a great price.... thank goodness because the cost of timber was just too much

Received in the mail today a New York mail order pattern years and years old.... never used.... it is a beautiful ladies apron pattern that I hope I will enjoy making.  Just to think... the lady who ordered the pattern wouldnt have ever thought it would end up decades latter down here in Australia!

Still no heater.... gosh its cold.  All of us are sick with the flu.

Had the best day today!  I think we have finally settled on dowel as the top and bottom rail to go into the dress screen leaf.  They will make a nice rounded smooth finish for the quilted panels to go over.  I cant wait to get them together.... my wonderful P will make them tomorrow!

Drove through Baxter and some other peninsula countryside today and the sun was out and it was glorious.  I really have to take my camera... there are less and less beautiful sweeping shots... the rotten freeway cuts through paddocks and cuts the view in two... the old homes and sheds are just getting older and I do want to take lots of photos of how things used to be.  I dont find all that much to photograph in many of the newer buildings out there.

Watched a couple of videos trying to figure out how to adapt knitting with a circular needle instead of knitting pins which I love.  Anyhow Ive got it now.  Im making P a luxurious black pure wool double layered scarf and it is growing at a very fast rate now that Ive got the whole circular needle concept.  I will keep to 4 pins when knitting my socks.  Honestly there is always some value I think in the good old fashioned way of doing things.  Showing my age probably but Ive no problem and I love the ease of knitting with 4 pins.

Off to the sewing machine.  Quilts and screen panels are calling!

Time is going fast and slow at the same time.

After weeks of not having a computer I now have one that I could have only dreamt about.

I havent had the inclination to step out into cyber space for quite some time.  So much has happened and is still unfolding in the real world.  Illness, tests, fear, starting a small business, the achingly slow movements of government and banks to get in line all the business details, a wonderful accountant, a new relationship and kids growing all the time.  Lots of work not done not finished.  Elation and sadness all mixed like a rainbow cake.

To concentrate on the positive.  I have the beginnings of ATCs and stitch markers that are way overdue so that is a relief.  Two very over due quilts are so very close.  I am finding it hard to settle and finish them but after I shake this horrible flu that has put me to bed for days.... I just want to finish them and get them out of my life.

Peter has been great.  it has been a very slow but on the other hand very fast relationship.  I guess you never know who you have in your life until you are forced to take a good look... well sometimes.

I would like to thank my brother for sharing his thoughts of my dying around the same age as my mother ie in about 4 years time.  It has made having mammograms and cancer tests oh so much more enjoyable wondering if life will prove him right.  He and millions of you would laugh at me worrying about some joke prediction.  One should never joke about death.
